1. Who we are

The Africa Commerce & Industry Summit & Awards 2026 nomination, voting and ticketing platform ("the Platform") is operated on behalf of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry ("KNCCI", "we", "us") as part of the Africa Commerce & Industry Summit. This policy explains what personal data we collect through the Platform, why, and how it's protected, in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

2. What we collect

• Nominations: the nominee's name, business/organisation details, a short case for nomination, and supporting documentation (e.g. business registration, KRA PIN) submitted by the nominator.
• Nominator/voter contact details: name, email address, and phone number, used to verify submissions and votes and to send confirmations.
• Payment data: processed by our payment partner (Paystack/M-Pesa) for votes and tickets — we do not store your card or M-Pesa PIN details ourselves.
• Usage data: standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically to keep the Platform secure and working correctly.

3. How we use it

• To process and screen nominations against the published award criteria
• To verify and count votes, including basic anomaly detection against vote-buying or automated voting
• To process ticket and vote purchases and send confirmations
• To communicate with nominees, nominators, and voters about the Awards
• To meet legal and regulatory obligations

4. Sharing

We share data with KNCCI's awards secretariat and judging panel for verification and judging purposes, with our payment processor to complete transactions, and with regulators or law enforcement where legally required. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

5. Retention

Nomination and voting data is retained for the duration of the Africa Commerce & Industry Summit & Awards 2026 cycle and a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping and dispute resolution, then deleted or anonymised, consistent with the Data Protection Act's retention-limit principle.

6. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by us, subject to our legal retention obligations. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
